Podcasts 101

New to the wonderful world of podcasts? Here’s a crash course.

WHAT’S A PODCAST?

A podcast is a digital audio file that lives on the internet. It’s like a radio show on demand! There are tons of great shows out there, most of which are available to listen to and download for free. Neat, huh?

HOW DO I LISTEN?

There are a few ways to tune in to The Faculty of Horror each month.

Contrary to what the term “podcast” implies, you don’t need an iPod or a fancy tech device to listen to podcasts. You can stream/download the episodes from right here on our website! Just hit the play button below the episode description to listen, or right click/option-click the link below the player and select “Save Target As…” to download the episode as an mp3.

Another popular method is to find us on iTunes, Spotify, or a podcatcher app and subscribe to our RSS feed. In doing so, the program will automatically download Faculty of Horror new episodes as soon as they become available!

WHAT PODCATCHER APP SHOULD I USE?

Just kidding. Seriously though, there are lots of great apps out there for a variety of mobile devices so that you can take The Faculty of Horror with you and keep up with new episodes and content. Google “top podcatcher apps” for the most recent lists from podcast enthusiasts and tech nerds.

Happy listening!

    Hello,
I just found and love your podcast. I listen to a good amount of horror and paranormal podcasts and lamented the lack of female voices. I was thinking of starting my own, less academic, though intelligent, but more casual/ slightly phantasmic shock theater style. Do you have any advice on microphones, recording software, pitfalls to avoid? I was looking at blue Yeti or Blue snow ball. Thanks for your work!!!
